"We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One." (1 John 5:1
Is Satan more powerful than the God who made heaven and earth, and all things in them - visible and invisible? (Colossians 1:15-16) The answer is absolutely, No - for God is Almighty (Isaiah 43:13). But why is Satan ruling the world - and misleading, exploiting, and tormenting the people whom God has created? (1 John 5:19). Catholic Front, in this post, gives an insight to Satan's strategy of dominion in the world, and shows the way to freedom from his captivity.Follow me. You will Know the Truth and the Truth will set you free (John 8 :32).
SATAN IN THE WORLD
![]() |
SATAN'S GRIP ON THE WORLD |
Yes, it is true that Jesus calls Satan "the ruler of this world" (John 14:30-31) - but that was not his birth right! We know that Satan started opposing God right from heaven, but was cast down to the earth. When Satan tried to usurp the power of God, Archangel Michael cried out, "Who is like God?" - and that is his name. He was the one who led the army of God's faithful angels to fight and cast Satan out of heaven. (Revelation 12 :7-9).
So Satan came down to the world to fight the children of God (Revelation 12:12, 17). But God did not abandon his children. That is why Jesus Christ, the Son of God, also came down to the world to fight and to defeat Satan (Colossians 2:15). He gave believers the authority and power to overthrow Satan (Luke 10:19) and to cast him out of the world (Mark 16: 17).
REALITY OF THE WORLD
But the reality of the world is that the disciples of Satan are more faithful to Satan than Christians are faithful to Christ. So when Satan commands his disciples and clients, they do exactly what he says. But when Christ tells Christians: "do this" or "don't do that" - there are so many that do not obey.. The great majority of Christians are either indifferent to the perpetration of evil or compromised with Satan's diabolic projects. And so they elect Satan, instead, to take control where the Lord has appointed them to rule.
This is why and how Satan is having so much power and influence in the world, and seeming to overpower the Almighty God. There is evidence, we can see - everyday, there is corruption, injustice, oppression, war, perversity, violence and killing in the world. And numerous positions of power are held by Christians - who fail to rule for God.
UNFAITHFUL CHRISTIANS
Due to fear, ignorance and impatience, human beings - in general - choose and vote for Satan to rule over them - in the sciences, technology, politics, commerce, marriage, administration, arts and culture. But the terrible thing is that Christians who should be the witnesses for Christ (Acts 1:8) are also exercising the fear of Satan - instead of the fear of God. They are indifferent to the misery of the world, impatient with God - and so compromise with Satan to execute the latter's agenda.
As Judas betrayed Jesus, so there are many Christians betraying Christ. Judas sold Jesus for thirty silver coins only (Matthew 26:14-15). But today many are selling Christ for billions of dollars, for decades in power and for tons of honor. Even in the church false prophets and pastors have sold Christ to the dragon to get power for miracles - to deceive the world. (Matthew 24:24; Revelation 13:1-18). And so the beasts (false prophets, witch-doctors, occultists, fortune-tellers) have left the sea to erect their altars in "churches" - serving as pastors, prophets and apostles of Satan (Revelation 13:1-2), They pull, deceive, mislead, exploit and ruin millions of souls across the world.
THE STRATEGY OF SATAN
Surely, Satan has a working strategy to dominate in the world. Yes - this is how he lures, tricks and manipulates so many people to follow him:
(1) Satan gives you anything you want- not, necessarily, that which is good for you and for others. That is why selfish and wicked people follow him.
(2) Satan gives you what you want at the time you want - now. That is why those who have no patience run after him.
(3) Satan gives you what you do not work for, and helps you to reap where you did not stow. That is why lazy people worship him.
(4) Satan strikes you down as soon as you disobey his command. That is why the world and his followers fear him.
These are the reasons why some of those that God chose and authorized to overthrow Satan and rule the world (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 17:13-14)), have resigned and elected Satan to rule. They do it by accepting Satan's offers - instead of rejecting them and rebuking him; as Jesus did. (Matthew 4:1-11).
GOD DIFFERS FROM SATAN
However, the truth is that God is all-powerful and unchangeable. As the scripture says, "I am God and forever, I will be. No one can escape from my power and no one can change what I do" (Isaiah 43:13). So it's important to know that: (1) what Satan gives you is temporary but the blessings of God are everlasting.(2) when Satan gives, you have to pay back; even more. lBut when God gives, it is free, because Jesus had paid the price That is why Satan's blessings usually tend to be curses in disguise. For the price and pains are regrettable. (3) God gives you only what is good for you and for others - at the right time and place. He may require your little effort, so that you can value and manage, well, what you receive. So God's blessings make you rich and without adding any sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).
Satan is fast, surely, because his time is running out (Revelation 12:12). But God has eternity. So he is patient with the sinners, and blesses anyone as he wills. Satan does not forgive. Only God is merciful - that is why the world and many Christians take him for granted. But as the saying goes, "Slow water runs very deep"- so the end will be terrible for unrepentant sinners. That is why Jesus commanded that we should not work for perishable food, but for food that lasts forever (John 6:27). The last judgement wikl begin in the house of God - .so that those Christians who have resigned their duties or who have crossed the carpets to elect Satan as ruler of the world - will be the first to be judged and condemned. (1 Peter 4:17). The followers of Satan (Revelation 21:8; Matthew 8:29). Meanwhile, the loyal and courageous ones will be justified, for eternal life in heaven. (Romans 5:17-19; 1 John 3:8).
ANCIENT HEROES OF FAITH
But where are the modern heroes of faith in God - those willing to die for the Truth? (Revelation 12:11). Let us recall, in three cases, what ancient heroes of faith did:
1.David, a young boy without any fighting experience, stood up against Goliath, the giant warrior who oppressed Israel - and God gave him victory over the enemy (1 Samuel 17:4-50). He was later chosen by God to rule, as the King of Israel, for forty years.
2.Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into a hot furnace for refusing to worship the idol of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. But God sent his angel to rescue them. The king also surrendered and worshiped God. Then promoted the three heroes of faith to higher positions in the kingdom of Babylon (Daniel 3:14-30).
3.When Paul and Silas were praising God, , after being tortured and put into jail - for witnessing for Christ - the chains fell off their feet. The Good News was not only that they were released, but also that the jailer and his family were converted to Christ. (Acts 16:22-26).
WITNESSING FOR JESUS TODAY
In today's world every Christian is called to be a witness for Christ. Wherever and in whatever, you do, you no longer do it for yourself, but for Jesus. By virtue of your baptism you have the same mission, authority and power given to the twelve Apostles (Matthew 10 :7-8). In fact, true believers have full authority and power (Mark 16:17-18) to witness (Acts 1:8), testify (1 Peter 2:9), and fight for Christ in the world (Revelation 17:13-14). So you are able to overthrow Satan and rule for God in your job, office, trade, country etc.
"Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you." (Luke 10:19)
You cannot just sit, fold your arms, and say, "God will punish them" (perpetrators of evil). Or, say "I am not part of them". Yes, God will punish them, but only after your own punishment!. Ask yourself this question: Did Jesus - who died for me - take part in my sins? If your answer is "No", as it should be; then, you must do something - action, prayer or sacrifice - to stop the evil around you and the world. If you do nothing, you are guilty of sin - the sin of omission and complaisance. (Revelation 21:7-8). And beware that the Judgement will begin with you (1 Peter 4:17).
You have to act by prayer and execution of dutiy. If you lack human authority, you always, have the divine authority (Mark 16:17; Luke 10:19). And remember that we are not fighting against human beings but against the evil spirits misusing them (Ephesians 6:12). So do not pray for the evildoers to die - for God does not desire a sinner to die (Ezekiel 33:11). Instead, pray for their deliverance and conversion. This is the meaning of what is written: "bring the dead back to life" and "drive out demons" (Matthew 10:8).
So we can't change the world by throwing bombs, launching missiles, and firing guns and machine guns. No - our weapons are not physical but spiritual (2 Corinthians 10:4). Christians will fight and overthrow Satan only by spiritual warfare. That is the meaning of the scripture which says that David refused to use the armor and sword of King Saul to fight Goliath. Instead, he took out five stones from the stream, which he catapulted one to kill Goliath (1 Samuel 17:38-40;49-50). Here, there is a deep mystery: the steam stands for the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit; the stone stands for the written Word of God, incarnate in Jesus Christ; and the catapult stands for the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word - Jesus Christ. And as the catapulted stone was borne by the air, so is your catapulted Word or prayer borne by the Holy Spirit - to hit your target - Satan. Now that you have the secret, screw up your courage and face the Enemy - as David faced Goliath (1 Samuel 17:32) - and God will give you victory..
YOU CAN BE A TESTIMONY
And you will certainly have your reward when Jesus marks your work (Revelation 22:12). Here is the testimony of a Civil Administrator in Cameroon: Some years ago, he was serving as Divisional Officer, when some of his collaborators accused and reported him for corruption with land litigations in his territory of competence. So he was fired from his position and he remained without function and pay. But after inquiry into the case the Head of State found out that he was innocent. His accusers were, actually, the corrupt ones. And they wanted to do away with him because he was opposed to corruption.
Then he was called back, not to resume his former position, but to assume the higher duty of Senior Divisional Officer. That very day, his accusers were fired and prosecuted. Finally, and in the same year, he was lifted up to the position of Regional Governor. His name is Adolphe Lele l'Afrique - a staunch Catholic. He is currently, Governor of North West Region in Cameroon. If you want, You can give your own testimony.

SECURE YOUR PLACE IN HEAVEN
I, hereby, do not condemn anyone, but the scripture says that whoever hears the Word of God and does not put it in to action is building on sand, and they will have a terrible fall when the storms blow. (Matthew 7:26-27). So, may the testimony of your baptism and faith in Jesus Christ give you victory over Satan, and a permanent place in the eternal kingdom of God; AMEN.

Thought of the Week
"A true ruler does not worry about how long they will stay in power but, rather, about how much they will do with power. In doing so much they might rule for ever, but in trying to remain in power they may end up doing nothing."
