ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS

"I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for. Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you." (Jeremiah 29:11-12).

Everybody has a dream - a dream to achieve something, a dream to change something, a dream to get somewhere, or a dream to become someone. Youths are the greatest dreamers of all time, and this is legitimate because the future, definitely, belongs to them. But everyone is a youth, so long as you know that time does not belong to human beings, but to God alone.

Unfortunately, many cherished dreams  never materialize and so many people, eventually, abandon or fail to do what they planned to do - either for one reason  or another. Catholic Front now takes you out to discover and to use ten keys to  unlock your way to the effective realization and concrétisation of your dreams. Follow me! "You will Know the truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8 :32).

1. VISION

The very first key is to sharpen your imagination. Think clearly to have a concrete picture of what you want to do or achieve. Ask yourself and answer the questions: why? How? When? For whom? Is your project a necessity or just for fancy and pride? Do you have the required expertise, materials, tools and support to work? Will you be the sole beneficiary of what you want to achieve? And, will your achievement be harmful or helpful to others? In fact, the more your project is precise and consistent with necessity and collective good the more it will sustain your attention and energy, the support of other people and, definitely, the approval of God.

CLIMB THE STEPS TO YOUR DREAMS

2. CONFIDENCE

The second key is to trust in your own ability or capacity to do what you desire to do. You may have all the expertise, material, tools and support needed but without confidence you cannot achieve anything. Remember that if you do not believe in yourself no one else can believe in your capacity. However do not judge your worthiness because in the absolute no one can justify their merit to achieve anything. Therefore, trust in God, always.

3. FAITH

The third key is to believe in God and to trust in his unlimited power. So, “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22), “For  there is nothing that God cannot do”.(Luke 1:37). Therefore, if you believe that what you cannot do for yourself God can do it for you, and that what you cannot do it alone you can do it with God (Mark 10:27); then, you will become a concrete achiever.

4. COMMITMENT

The fourth key is to allocate sufficient time, energy and resources to the project which you want to achieve. Every concrete achievement requires zeal, devotion and constancy. Your project is permanent, but you need to keep on adjusting your plan and strategy as you get new insights or as circumstances change.

5. COURAGE

The fifth key is to dare to act (action). This is the first concrete step to every concrete achievemen. You must attempt to do what you want to do - there is no other way. There is always a risk of danger or failure in doing anything. Yet, you can do nothing until you dare to start doing it. The rule is simple- no risk, no race. Mean people attempt to do alone what they have been doing together with others, average people attempt to do what they see other people doing, and great people attempt to do what no one has done before. From an attempt you acquire the experience and motivation which enables you to achieve concretely.

6. DILIGENCE

The sixth key is dedicated hard work. This means a careful, complete and steady effort towards achieving what you desire. Remember that energy or power without control is wasteful and that work without mastery is dangerous. Therefore, to do effective work, mitigate risks and avoid waste, you must pay careful attention to details and procedures. Thus, every good work is worth the pains (effort) and pays accordingly.

7. PERSEVERANCE

The seventh key is to persist in doing what you are doing or what you have to do to succeed or to achieve. Remember that there will always be difficulties on the way, therefore, never stop working when you meet oppositions and obstacles, instead, double your courage and commitment, for no good thing ever comes easily. Under your perseverance obstacles will collapse, and any opposition will retreat in the face of your persistence. Even when you fail, do not fall - but stand the challenge. Wise people exploit their failures to gain victory. Learn the lessons of your failure in order to succeed. This is how persistence  turns many underdogs into great achievers in life. However, do not forget to wedge your persistence with patience because every good thing comes just at the right time.

8. INTEGRITY

The eighth key is moral rectitude - especially, value truth and honesty. The end does not always justify the means you use to achieve. Anything that is dishonestly obtained will eventually be lost, because in the absolute no one reaps where they do not sow - you get just what is yours. So in trying to get what is not yours you may finally lose everything - including yours Duplicity will put you in continual conflict with God and other people, and you can achieve nothing permanently in that state of war. Use the right means to attain your goals, and even when everybody seems to be dishonest, be honest anyway. Rightful gains are permanent but wrongful ones are only temporary and, sometimes, they are life – sacrificing. Certainly, honest people in the society will often carry the cross of their integrity, but that is why they are covered by the victory of Jesus Christ on the Cross (Colossians 2:15).

9. CHARITY

The nineth key is kindness and sympathy toward other people. When choosing and seeking to achieve your goals always consider the interests of other people. No one lives in isolation and society is only a communiion of people. Therefore, you cannot truly be happy in the midst of unhappy people. Thus, very selfish goals are hard to achieve. If your goals oppose the legitimate interests or wellbeing of others they would, certainly and rightfully, oppose your efforts to achieve them. Besides, make sure that anything you do benefits, apart from you, at least one or more people. In this way you attract the sympathy and support of others towards the achievement of your project. And your charity pleads even more strongly for you in front of God  (Matthew 25:40).

10. PRAYER

The tenth and master key to concrete achievement is prayer. Firstly, always give thanks to God, no matter what happens, and pray for your needs (1 Thessalonians 5: 16 - 18). Remember that you can do nothing without God (John 15:5), that no one can have anything unless God gives it to them (John 3: 27), and that if God does not build the house the worker labours in vain (Psalm 127 :1).

In fact, prayers can remove any obstacle on the way to your achievement; if, indeed, you pray with repentance, forgiveness and faith, (James 5: 16;; Mark 11: 23 – 25); and what you ask is according to God's will (Matthew 6:10) That is why it is unwise to destroy others in order to build yourself, because your project will never be pleasing to God. Therefore, “Ask and you will receive, seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone who asks will receive, and anyone who seeks will find, and the door will be opened to those who knock” (Mathew 7: 7 – 8). On this point of prayer, let us examine three strange cases: Follow me!

Heirs of Fortune

(1) There are many people who achieve their dreams without praying to God.  This may happen because (i) they reap of the seeds of the good works, prayers and sacrifices sown by their ancestors and / or  prayerful relatives (Exodus 20:6), and  (ii) God blessess both the righteous and the unrighteous people (Matthew 5:45).

However, as Chinua Achebe wrote in  his book, Things Fall ApartAWS, Heinemann, 1958, "Those whose palm kernels were cracked for them by the benevolent spirit must not forget to be humble." For by doing good works and giving thanks to God, they may (i) gain divine protection on their lives and their achievements (ii) earn  their passports to heaven (iii) ensure the transmission of their blessings to their d descendants. On the contrary, they may suffer from envious attacks, lose eternal life and leave their descendants to suffer punishment for their sins (Exodus 20:5).

Servants of Satan

(2) There are many people who depend on idols or work with Satan to achieve. Yes, while some people ask from God, there are others who ask from Satan. The latter have to make human and other dreadful sacrifices in order to get what they want. But for those who depend on God, Jesus Christ has already offered himself as the perfect and eternal sacrifice to God - the Almighty. Now they need, only, to offer his memorial in the Holy Mass to plead on their behalf. The truth is that those who worship idols, serve Satan or practice magic to achieve in life will, in  addition to sacrificing their lives and those of their loved ones, also perish in the fires of hell. (Revelation 21:8)

Victims of Circumstances

(3) There are many people who work hard and pray to God, but they do not achieve. The cause may be their sins (John 9:31) or those of their ancestors (Exodus 20:5). So the first thing to do is to examine your conscience. Then you have to confess all your sins, repent, do penance and make proper sacrifices to wipe out your sins and their consequences on your life.

The second thing to do is to cleanse your ancestral lineage through penance, prayer and sacrifices - the greatest is the Holy Mass. In fact, there are so many people who are limited by ancestral bondages, curses and blockages. These are victims of circumstances. For in as much as some people had their palm kernels cracked for them by the benevolent spirit (China Achebe), so also there are others who had their palm kernels snatched from them by the malevolent spirit. And, so, no matter the efforts they make, they cannot succeed until they are spirituality liberated and restored to their destinies and their blessings from God.

Conclusion

Let us conclude by evoking the Triangle of Perfect Materialization. The first point of the Triangle is Action (all the ten points we have examined above). The second point of the Triangle is Providence (all we have is created by God and disposed according to his will). Satan does not create anything - he only steals from one to give to another (the one who worships him;) - robbing Peter to pay Paul. The third point of the Triangle is Achievement (the concretization of the vision). Surely, every dream that you project into this triangle would materialize, according to the will of God (Jeremiah 29:11). These ten keys will unlock your doors to achieve and succeed in in your life. May you be blessed as you read, practice and share this Post with others. Thanks be to God - Amen.

Though of the Week

"While some people strain themselves all day and night, others spend their time boozing and gambling. But when the time comes to harvest, the former become targets of  slander and malice. Unfortunately for the latter, they can neither reap from pleasures nor from their malice. The harvest belongs to the sower alone, and while boozing is a cash and time drainer gambling is only a game of chance." - From: "Whispers of Wisdom" by Aying Godman.
