"Everyone else serves the best wine first, and after the guests have drunk a lot, he serves the ordinary wine. But you have kept the best wine until now!” Jesus performed this first miracle in Cana in Galilee; there he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him." (John 2:10-11).
The Virgin Mary appeared to the three shepherd children on May 13, 1917 as “a lady dressed in white, shining brighter than the sun, giving out rays of clear and intense light,” She promised to come to the children on the 13th of each month. She did come, as she promised, giving them revelations and instructions, which are known today as "The Message of Fatima" (Lucia Speaks, Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, 1976).
This post honors Our Lady of Fatima - whose feast is celebrated on 13 May - and tells how the Virgin Mary continues, today, with her mission of Intercession and exhortation which she started at the Wedding in Cana (John 2:1-11). Follow me - "You will Know the Truth and the Truth will set you free" (John 8:32).
1. WEDDING IN CANA
At the wedding in Cana (John 2:1-11) Jesus performed his first miracle by changing ordinary drinking water into extraordinary wine. This miracle was performed at the request of the Virgin Mary - his mother - to satisfy the thirst of the guests and to bless the hosts, who invited them to the wedding - and who had run out of wine. It is obvious that Jesus performed the miracle only to honor his mother because "his time had not come", and also that Mary requested for the miracle only in recognition of the hosts' invitation which honored her - because no one asked her for anything. Of course, the possibility of that miracle was a secret known only to Mary and Jesus himself - and this confirms that the Virgin Mary has extraordinary divine privileges.
Now let us take note of two things :
1.Jesus performed this miracle at the invitation of his mother and to the benefit the hosts who had invited her mother.
2. Jesus performed his first miracle in honor to his mother and to the benefit of the hosts who had honored her mother.
The secret is that you are a privileged child of God, when you honor Mary together with Jesus, because to honor Mary is to glorify God, who made her the mother of Jesus Christ - his Son. To honor Mary, also, is to prove that you are born again in Christ, because all believers who are faithful to Christ are called the children of Mary (Revelation 12:17). And the Word of God commands that we honor our parents so as to maintain God's blessings to us (Exodus 20:12). Therefore, to honor the Virgin Mary is to obey the command of God.
2. SIGNS AND SYMBOLS
First of all, the wedding feast in Cana prefigures the Wedding Feast of the Lamb in heaven - which is still to come. (Matthew 22:1-14; Revelation 19:7-9)
(1) The six stone water jars stand for the world ; that is, humanity made by God on the 6th day of creation (Genesis 1:26-28).
(2) The servants stand for the priests, the intercessors, confessors, catechists, apostles, evangelists, and all the people whom Christ uses to transmit the Good News and the graces of his Salvation to the world.
(3) The water stands for the ordinary life of human beings.
(4) The wine stands for the life of God's grace - extraordinary in its essence and its excellence.
(5) The bridegroom stands for Christ, who is the Son of God, the head of the Church, and the Savior of the world.
(6) The guests stand for all the believers, who are called to Salvation in the body of Christ, which is the Church.
(7) The man in charge of the feast stands for the angels of God.
In this setting the mission of the Virgin Mary two-way: (1) Interceding with Christ for the spiritual and the temporary needs of the servants and of the world: "They are out of wine" (John 2:3); and (2) exhortating the servants and the world to obey the commands and teachings of Christ: "Do whatever he tells you" (John 2:5).
3. MESSAGE OF FATIMA
"On 13 October 1917 newspapers in Portugal published the testimonies from witnesses who said that they had seen extraordinary solar activity, such as the Sun appearing to "dance" or zig-zag in the sky, careen towards the Earth, or emit multicolored light and radiant colors. According to these reports, the event lasted approximately ten minutes." (Wikipedia)
This phenomenon, called the "Miracle of the Sun" proved to the world what is written about the Virgin Mary: "Then a great and mysterious sight appeared in the sky. There was a woman, whose dress was the sun and who had the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head." (Revelation 12:1).
The Message of Fatima (Lucia Speaks, Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, 1976) - which centers on conversion, penance, prayer and sacrifice - proves that the mission of the Virgin Mary did not end with her conception, birth and upbringing of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savoir (Luke 1-2). Rather, Jesus was just her first born (Luke 2:7; Colossians 1:18.); for all the baptized, who are faithful to Christ, are children of Mary (Revelation 12:17). In her celestial being and with her prerogatives as Queen of Heaven (Revelation 12 :1), she continues to work hard - through her intercession and exhortation - to change sinners to saints and unbelievers to believers, as she says to Jesus: "They are out of wine" (John 2:3) and to the world: " Do whatever he (Jesus) tells you" (John 2:5).
The inherent merits and actions of the Virgin Mary, in this regard, are :
(1) Her profound love for God and for all humanity
(2) Her obedience and total submission to God - by which she lives and works in perfect harmony with the Holy Trinity.
(3) Her unity and intercession with Christ - this is demonstrated by the intersection of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with the Sacred of Jesus.
(4) Her constant exhortation to the world, for them to be obedient and faithful to God.
(5) Her mercy and deep compassion for sinners; which coupled with her constant, intercession with Jesus for the graces for their conversion, earned for her the title of Advocate or Refuge of Sinners.
4. THIRSTY WORLD
Just as the guests at the Wedding in Cana thirsted for more wine, so does the world today thirst for: (1) Love (2) Mercy (3) Justice (4) Peace (5) Life (6) Joy and (7) Eternal Life. Of all these, the greatest is Love (1 Corinthians 13:13). For if there is Love, there will be Mercy; if there is Mercy, there will be Justice; if there is Justice, there will be Peace; if there is Peace, there will be Life; if there is Life, there will be Joy; and if there is Joy, everyone would go to heaven. The Virgin Mary is able and willing to obtain for us extraordinary graces - as wonderful as the extraordinary wine of Cana - for the world to know love and all that which flows from it. As she said at Fatima, "God has promised peace to the world through my Immaculate Heart" (Lucia Speaks). How many are ready to receive this promise?

5. DRINK THE WINE
The world today is so divided and traumatized by discords, quarrels and conflicts, which exist almost everywhere. Just as the Virgin Mary said to Jesus, at the Wedding in Cana, "They are out of wine" (John 2:3), so she is also saying to him today, "They are out of peace". It is now left to us to accept the offer of the Virgin Mary, to unite with her, in petition to Jesus - the sacrificial Lamb of Love (John 3:16) and the Giver of Peace (John 14:27) - for love and peace to flow to our divided families, our wartorn countries and our broken world.
We would start, first, by seeking for our reconciliation and peace with God, for we cannot give what we do not have. This is a call for repentance, confession and conversion to Christ. Then we would be able to stand with the Mary - through her Immaculate Heart and by the daily meditation of the Rosary - to obtain the peace we need in the world, through Christ Jesus, our Lord. This is the core of the Message of Fatima; a message that is as relevant today - with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as it was in 1917- with the First World War.
Let us take action now to do what is right by reading, sharing and applying the Message of Fatima, for the end of the war, and for peace to reign in the world. And as you read and act on this message, may the blessings and the favors of God, by the merits of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, flow infinitely to you - through Christ, our Lord; Amen!

"The prayers of the oppressed rise into heaven, continually, like vapours of water rising into the atmosphere. When they attain the saturation point, there will come a downpour to sweep away the usurpers of their land and set them free." - Aying Godman (Whispers of Wisdom)
